The name of the rose is a misterious movie which develop an antique franciscan story
The main character is brother William performed by Sean Connery ,the story is set in the north of italy in a Franciscan monastery.
Is a movie that shows the way of think of this franciscans in the different aspects relationed with the science and the inquisition of their culture.


The story is about a serie of murders that happenen in the monastery, brother William is designed to investigate the first murder but at the time he is investigating, other murders happen.
The description of the way of think of the inquisition times is very prominent.
The religion is totaly opposed to the science that begin to develope in those years .
In the monastery, the franciscans tried to hide all this information that were printed in the books, and the murders that took place were the result of the discovery of this information by some brothers in the monastery.
The murders were so shocking that the inquisition had to take place in the table Brother William who was in the top of the investigation and wasn`t opponent of the science , was removed of the investigation.
Another important rol is his apprentice who is involved in a love relation with one of the poor girls of the sorrounding monastery, he is moved by the love emotions and attacked to by the other brothers too.
At the end of the story Brother william and the other supposed murderers are accused for bein heretics, and the inquisition try to kill them without success they escape and grow their wisdom.

The movie is well done , the story is very good and entreteined, has a captivating mistery and suspense and the performance of the characters is very good

This movie is recomended to all people who want to know a little of how the culture was in those times and it will make you think a little more about the religion and the science and the way they govern your mind....
